US Mints the Most New Millionaires

The economic recovery might be lackluster, but the US knows how to generate wealth. Last year, we generated more millionaires than any other country in the world, thanks to rising stocks and improvements in home prices.

According to a new report from Credit Suisse, 1.8 million new millionaires were minted last year…and practically all of them – 1.7 million – were made in the US.

France came in second, creating 287,000. And Germany took third place, with 221,000 new millionaires. China generated 90,000 millionaires. Japan lost 1 million. So when it’s all added up, the world has 32 million millionaires, and 42% of them (13.2 million) live in the US.
